Our first task was to create an online portfolio using the Hotglue Content Maninupulation System.
"HOTGLUE is a visual tool for creating websites directly in the web-browser. Whether you want to make a personal webpage, online gallery or a website for your band - HOTGLUE is an interesting alternative to over-complicated systems like Wordpress, Drupal, etc." says hotglue.me.
Stepping onto the work-field of Hotglue, I was pretty new to such a system and it's interesting toolset.
After taking a few moments getting familiar and noting down all the tools (and their icons) I began throwing a page together with a few images, headers, hyperlinks and a background.
I then moved on to creating multiple pages with other media, such as embedded Youtube videos, Twitter features and Soundcloud tracks, which I believe Hotglue interprets and handles extremely well. It's a click, copy and paste job.
Here are some experiments with various media, on my first few Hotglue pages. As said before, the embedding of Youtube videos is made easy using the embed tool.
Soundcloud tracks can also be embedded, this time using the standard text tool, and the
provided embed code (of the
track). Another simple copy and paste task. This would be a great way to include background music in my portfolio, or in this case, find out about "the word". But after I had placed the code and deselected the text box, Hotglue interpreted the embed code correctly, but it became un-editable, un-movable and un-deletable! Even in various browsers, the Soundcloud track was there to stay.
Try it out!
In this video I briefly explain each tool provided by Hotglue, and how they can be used.
